Restoring degraded headlights as much as possible (Part 2)

The fellow of the friendship who visited the previous article said, "It becomes really easy and beautiful, so please try it once by all means. It is "Headlight Steamer" that I was also interested in.

The material of the lens of the headlight becomes the resin (polycarbonate) mainstream from the glass, and yellowing appears over time. When the headlights are cloudy in brown and yellow, the whole car looks very old.

Deterioration is mainly yellowing of the resin due to ultraviolet rays.I tried to verify the headlight steamer that says that i revive this easily and beautifully.

Note) Cracks inside the resin lens may be deeply advanced, or those that are white and cloudy from the inside may not be as good as expected.

The contents of the kit are available in two types of hot drink warmers.AC adapter and cigar lighter socket to supply power. And, it is an aluminum bottle with a blue liquid that seems to be small interfacial tension.

It is a mechanism to dissolve the polar surface layer by warming the blue liquid with a drink warmer and applying the generated steam to the headlight surface.

The lens material of the headlight is polycarbonate with excellent impact resistance, but because there is a relatively weak property to the organic solvent, I think that it is a kit that actively used it.

The blue liquid has no labels or descriptions. The sweet odor you can feel even when you're away is probably a chlorine-based organic solvent (such as dichloromethane). If this is the case, it is a substance that is said to be dangerous in various ways, so the working environment is sufficient ventilation and the worker is required to wear protective equipment such as a poison mask.

Headlight lens with cracks on the surface. This is more than 20 years old.

The processing is the same as the previous work.It begins by scraping off the yellowed layer with fine water-resistant paper.Because the work of this base affects the finish, it takes time and it takes time and it takes time and it takes time and it takes it carefully though it is steady work.

Pour the blue liquid into the drink warmer, turn it on and check for steam coming out of the nozzle in a few minutes.Apply to the cloudy headlights by water-resistant paper treatment.

I was surprised to see the steam hit and finished cleanly and evenly in an instant (thanks to the customers who took the video).

The part that can not be cloudy is the place where the underprocess was insufficient.Originally headlights with a thick coating layer can not get a good finish if you do not peel off everything cleanly.

Currently being requested to analyze the components of liquids.
